NEC Dementia Care Show 2012

Hill & Hill Design present their Hockley dementia bedroom furniture range at the NEC Dementia care show 2012. 2012 was a very busy year for the Hill family with Mary getting married in the spring and culminating in a huge military wedding in York Minster for our daughter 3 days before Christmas, not to mention completing several lovely care home refurbishment projects in between. Early in the year we had almost decided not to exhibit at the dementia care Show as our order book was quite healthy and the wedding preparations were beginning to take over our lives. All common sense flew out of the window one morning when we decided that it would be the ideal opportunity to show case our new Hockley dementia care home range and launch our first brochure. Our stand was booked that morning and a frenzied month followed. On one side of our stand stood our popular Hockley dementia furniture range with its cut away handles and open hanging space in the wardrobes. Whilst on the opposite side we displayed our best selling solid oak bedroom furniture. All the soft furnishings and curtains were made from inherently Flame retardant fabric. The fabrics were selected from Harlequins new Sevilla healthcare range alongside Bancrofts Flaxy and Kais gorgeous Amelie. The team at Hill & Hill Design would like to thank everyone that visited our stand at the Dementia care show and especially those that have subsequently placed orders. Mary overcomes her fear of heights.

Mary overcomes her fear of heights.

Mary overcame her lifetime fear of heights as she scaled the four storey scaffolding. The scaffolding marks what will become a brand new Care facility in Swansea for Jupiter Care .         The spectacular site sits at the top of the hillside with views out over the Swansea coastline. This project is to refurbish the existing building and take the theme through to the sizeable new extension, creating seamless transitions between the two areas. The coastline and surrounding views will be a big influence to the design, so Mary decided to take a look for herself despite her fear of heights. ” It had to be done, I knew the views would be such an inspiration and they were. I think a few of the builders found it quite amusing to see me going up the ladder as slowly as a snail, but I made it in the end. The main problem was coming back down! It was all worth it as the experience has already led to the development of the sea sky lounge.” Mary Hill. The sea sky lounge is positioned on the top floor of the care home with floor to ceiling windows looking out across the coastline. The room will be designed to connect the residents with the coastline even if they can’t actually be there. The room will take on themes of colours and textures to emulate the beach front. It will be a peaceful relaxation room where the residents can take a moment to read a book or watch the surrounding wildlife. COMING SOON! Please keep a look out for ‘Hillside Care Homes’ in our case studies to see the sea sky lounge and the rest of the project.        ...

NEC Care Show 2009

We have just completed our first NEC care show and would like to thank everyone who came on to our stand and to our kids and Mum for helping out on the show days. Arriving at the NEC to set up our stand was a very nerve racking experience. our little van was parked between Shackletons and YTMs huge lorries waiting to unload. We didn’t really know what to expect as we were definitely new kids on the block and extremely naive. We built and decorated our stand ourselves in a run down and leaking barn to save money. Our social life was put on hold for a whole month and our marriage was put to the test as we battled with wallpaper and paint. All our efforts paid off when the visitors started to arrive at the Care show and complemented us on our stand.  ...
