Many of the residents in your care home will have enjoyed a spot of gardening from time to time when they had their own garden. So why not get them involved in Community Gardening Week 2021 from April 5th to 11th.
What Is Community Garden Week?
Community Garden Week was started to help bring people together and get them outside into the great outdoors. The idea was to help turn otherwise dull and uninspiring community and school gardens into something that everyone can enjoy. While you might not be able to take your residents out to community gardens, you can turn the garden around your care home into their very own community garden.
Unfortunately, we still have to take precautions to ensure the safety of our residents and staff during the Coronavirus crisis, so please bear this in mind when gathering together. Under normal circumstances, we would be encouraging you to get the local community involved, but please refrain from this at present.
Get Into The Garden
While not all residents will be able to get out and lend a helping hand, just getting them outside in the great outdoors can be just as pleasing for them. They might even give you a few tips while you’re out there!
Sitting in the garden can be just as relaxing for your residents as a spot of light gardening could be, so if they want to watch from the sidelines, it’s a great way that they can still feel like they are taking part!
Take A Load Off
After a long day in the garden for your residents, ensure that they take a load off and get comfortable in one of the chairs you have across the lounge. Take this time to pay attention to how your current furniture is meeting the needs of your residents.
The collection of lounge chairs that we have here at Hill & Hill ensures that there is a different style to meet the needs of any of your residents, from high back to firm cushions and everything in between.
You can also choose the fabric from a wide variety of different colours and styles including the Panaz ShieldPlus fabric range. So if you have noticed that the great outdoors makes your residents happy, why not check out the fabric rage featuring leaves and flowers.
Frame Your Hard work
While we don’t mean taking a picture of your garden and framing it, by all means, do! It can help you to bring that garden inside no matter what the weather! But as we are coming into the nicer weather, we mean frame the great outdoors with a great set of curtains. As with our furniture, the choice of fabric is vast, meaning you can frame your window with an eye-catching colour or design, or you can extend the outdoor feeling with some nature-inspired designs. Each of our curtains are flame retardant, helping to keep your residents safe.
