Time for a cuppa is the yearly fundraising event from Dementia UK. This year the event falls on May 1st, however, they encourage you to hold your event whenever suits you and your care home.
What Is Time For A Cuppa
The aim of this event is to help with fundraising towards Dementia UK. Without these valuable funds, they are unable to continue the research into Dementia. Over the years this research has greatly helped not only medical professionals but also those in care homes, and those whose family members are living with dementia.
With dementia care being an important aspect in many care homes, a lot will hold their own fundraisers from time to time to help support vital research, and many will get involved in Time For A Cuppa, as a simple yet effective event.
Not only will the event help with fundraising, but it can also help to raise awareness of the latest research that is being carried out and how this can impact or help our care homes and loved ones.

Can We Hold Events
Unfortunately, in the UK, lockdowns and restrictions are still a very prominent part of life. This means that holding events can either be an absolute no, or a bit of a logistical nightmare. We recommend that you follow all government and local guidelines to ensure the safety of your residents and their loved ones. This might mean postponing to later in the year, or holding a smaller socially distanced tea party out in the gardens.
Whichever you opt for, please remember to stay safe.
Time For A Brew
We might not be able to invite families into our care homes for a cuppa yet, but that doesn’t mean our residents can’t participate in a daily (or hourly in some cases) brew. When our families enter a care home, we all hope that they will interact with other residents, so when it comes to our care homes, why not try to encourage this with a daily cuppa get together?
While the residents may not have much to say about their day, it can get them together sharing old stories and interacting with each other more than they might do otherwise.
The Ideal Cuppa Area
When it comes to enjoying that perfect cuppa, your residents will need to have the perfect place to sit. Some of us enjoy sitting in a nice comfortable chair in the residents’ lounge, so why not consider a variety of Wing Armchairs, Mid Back Armchairs and Tub Chairs, ensuring your residents have a nice variety.
Other residents might be more inclined to continue old habits and enjoy a nice cuppa while sitting at a table, just like they would have done in their own home (maybe offer them the paper too!). Our range of Dining Tables and Dining Chairs can offer your residents the choice of where they want to enjoy their morning cuppa.
For more information on any of the furniture options that we offer, please contact a member of our friendly team today who will be happy to discuss this with you. You can also check out our latest news regularly for more ideas on upgrading your care home furnishings.
